Draft Reading

The reading of draft in class by our group members was very good and it help me very much to get ideas for my eassy. It gave me the chance to know about the different subjects people were writing about and also to contribute by giving them my ideas about their topic.
I learn term geeks that is used to describe a certain group of people in American schools. I had this idea from one of my group members by comparing friends in my country and that of what I have seen here in America. This was a great idea that I had not thought of, but the readings help me to get that idea to add to my paper. Again, we were able to make some corrections on our various paper and I think that was great.
In all the reading of the drafts by group member helped me alot with the writing of my essays, especially my first essay.

Other Peoples Weblog

What I release when reading other peoples weblog was that, weblogs are informal ways of writing. It looked like people sit down and write about what ever come to their minds at that particular point in time. There are no revision or editing done on them. I found some common mistakes that one will not find in a paper that is written to be submitted to a professor or an instructor.
It is a free style of writing kind of thing. You write what ever comes to your head about a topic.

CD covers (Country Music)

MY group chose to write on CD Covers and each one of us chose a style of music to write and talk about in class. I decided to write on Country Music because that is the kind or style of music that I listen to. A web defintion I found for what country music is: a simple style of folk music heard in the Southern United States; usually played on stringed instruments. The interesting thing is that country music is not only played and listen to by the people that live in Southern United States alone. There are now country music singer all over the United States.
The CD cover of country music can easily be identified in a group of different CD's. Usually country music covers have the artise or musicians picture behind the CD with a cow boy hat on. Sometime they will be sitting on a horse in the picture or you can see a CD with only a horses picture on it. The dressing of country music singer can easily be identified. Both female and male singer like to wear cow boy hat, cow boy shoes and belts with big hooks on them. Also there are some CD cover of that only have the cow boy hat behind it, these hats are usually the favoriate hat of the singer.
I love to country music because it is the only style of music that I can hear every thing they say. Also, every song have a story. The stories in country music are very interesting, some are funny, educative, entertaining etc. These stories are also understandable. Another thing I love about country music is the music videos. The music videos are good and interesting to watch. When you compare the music videos of country music and other style of music, country music's are meaningful. You can understand the song better by watching the video, in other words the video have everything to do with the song, but other styles of music are not like that. The music videos of other style of music usually have nothing to do with the song.
County Music have it own TV stations eg. CMT on channel 38 and there are also radio stations that play only country music eg 98.1Fm. These tells the way country music have become popular and also the importance of it to people.
Some of my farvoriate artise and their songs are, Martina Mc Bride (God's will), Dierks Bentley (what was I thinking), Keith Urban (You will think of me) and Jamie O'neal (trying to find alantis). These singers tells good stories in their songs and they also have good rhythm and melodies.

Visual Cliche

Cartoons have now become part and parcel of children lives. The first thing most children do after school is to sit in front of a TV to watch cartoons. There are several cartoon channels now on TV than ever. Most children come home from school and there will be no one at home, their parents will be gone. Children are now being educated by what they watch from these cartoons. Is the watching of cartoons helping in the up brining of kids? Some of the cartoons do give good education and deos teach the child some good things, but it's not all the channels that show good and educative cartoons. Cartoons are becoming so popular that now movie stars like Will Smith and others are making movie in a form of cartoons.
Due to cartoon watching most children do not do their home work from school and this I think affects their performance in school. They do not have time to do anything aside watching cartoons when they come home from school. There is a saying that "all work and no play make Jack a dull boy, but all play and no work too make Jack a lazy boy". So eventhough, watching cartoons help the kids in some way, it deos not help them in every way or everything they need to know.

THE INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY

Even though there was alot of techniqual problems during the presentation, I will say Dr. Genti gave a good presentation. The begining of the Presentation I felt was boring but the excepts that she showed in course of the presentation made the whole thing interesting.
I did learn soo many things from presentation, one of which is the globalization that she talked about. I also found that 700 to 2000 movies are produced in a year. I did not know that Indians make that much movies.

Dr.Genti mentioned that in the 1950's Hindo or Indian films became popular in othet parts of the world. One of the places she mentioned was Africa, and with me been an African I knew that was true. My mother love Indian movies and she introduced all her kids to it. As I grow I happen to like it too but I did not know much about the history or anything about the Indian film industry. This presentation served as an education to me on something I have personally enjoyed but knew nothing about.

Another thing Dr. Genti said at the begining of her presentation was the fact that she personally do not like the name Bollywood. She also mentioned how people like the conflict and emotions in India movies than that of American movies. In all Dr. Genti made major points that was worth knowing. The presentation to me was very educative and interesting.

The Introduction to Friends ( A comedy on TV)

Friend is a comedy shown in almost all the local channels on TV. The introduction has many colorful images in it that appeal to people to watch the show. The introduction work to tell its audience what friends and for and also to attract peoples attention to watch the show. The introduction starts with a tall yellow building with a what fountain in front of it. After this the word friends is written on the screen with colorful dots after each letter. Another image that I saw in the introduction is a sofa is was place in front of the water fountain and each of the cast comes to sit in it. The images I found them to be funny and color, because as part of the introduction, the individual cast comes up one after the other with their names on the screen making funny jokes and acting funny too.
This funny stuff made me interested to watch the show one night. I liked the show it was very entertaining but I did not the to lesson it portrayed about how friend do things. It was all happy moments, everything was nice and good, nothing seemed to be wrong with having friends. I think the program is entertaining but they have to bring in the other side of friendship.

Unfaithful

Last night I watch a movie on TNT entitled UNFAITHFUL. The movie was about a woman who had a husand and a son. Both parents had good jobs and they loved each other so much. One day after work, the women went to a shop to buy so staff she will need in preparing birthday party for her son. She happened to miss her train. It was a very windy day that was not siutable for walking. She tried to take a taxi home and she could not get any of the taxi drivers to stop. Blinded by the wind the women bump into this guy who was carrying a lot of books on his arms and they both fell on the ground.
The wind blown away most of the staff the women bought from the shop and she ended up having a couple of cuts on her knee. She apologise to the guy and begged him to get her a taxi to go home. On able to find a taxi for the lady, the guy told the lady that, if she won't mine she can come with him to his apartment. Where she could use his bathroom to clean up and take care of her cuts, after which the wind might have settled and she could get a taxi home. The lady went with the guy and cleaned up herself and her cuts. The guy had alot of books in his apartement, which made her thought he was a libarian or something.
He made her a cup of tea and when she was about to go, he asked her to take a book with her to read. The next day, she pick the book on her way to work and a card fell out of the book with the guys name and phone number on it. She called him to say thank you and he invited her for a cup of coffee at his place. To make a long story short, this women started cheating on her husband with this guy. She went so far with this guy that she did not even felt like making love with her husband.
So many questions came to my mind after watching the movie, and some of them are: Why do we get marriage? Is marriage something everybody have to go into? Why do people cheat on their partners in relationships? Is it okay to cheat in a relationship at all? Is it because people are not satisfied with what they have in their relationships, that make them cheat or what? What can be done to make people stay faithful in their married or even unmarried relationships?
These and many more were the questions that came to my mind. To anyone who will read this; if you happen to have answers to some of these question, please write back.
