Genre and Text

Last Sunday I watched a movie on the ABC TV channel entitle "The eyes were watching God". The theme of the movie was love and I learnt before watching the movie that it was produced by Operah. The movie was made out of a book "The eyes are watching God" that she read several years ago which happened to be her favorite book and she wanted to make a movie out of it, which she did and it was first shown on TV last Sunday. The movie was about a woman who was looking for love and had to go through a lot of things to find one true love. The cast of the movie was all black, it was base on the way black Americas lead their life in the early 60's.
Another movie that has the same theme love that I have watched is "Titanic". The movie is basically about the titanic which happened to be a ship, a ship that was wonderfully built in other words a ship of a life time that everyone wanted to seal in. It happened that there was this woman who had a beautiful daughter and she was engage to a guy from a very rich family. The two families went into the ship and there was this guy who was poor and happens to win a ticket from a game to enable him and his friend gets into the famous ship. To make a long story short the girl engage to the rich guy and the poor guy met and fell in love with each other.
These two stories are made in movie which can be said to be the genre of these stories and their test is the theme of love that they both have.
Even though these two movies have the same theme love, the way they are portrayed in each movie is different. Base on this notion it is safe to say that how people see things are different and one image can be viewed different among different people. Ones understanding of a text may depend on their understanding and the way they view things.
